NOTE: PVC does not stand for permanent virtual channel. No such term has been defined by any standards organization. Neither has the term "permanent virtual path (PVP)." In ATM, there are two kinds of PVCs: permanent virtual path connections (PVPCs) and permanent virtual channel connections (PVCCs).
