Either call them at 415-846-4600 or check their WEB site at http://www.ipsilon.com Summary: IP Switching is the construction of an IP router on top of an ATM cell switch. Traffic flows between these "IP/ATM router/switches" (IP Switch) as ATM cells. Normal flow passes from IP Switch to IP/ATM Switch with the IP function in each Switch routing the IP frames (reconstructed from the sequence of cells) in the usual fashion. However, if the IP routing function determines that this is a high traffic flow (e.g., FTP), it instructs the ATM switch portion to construct a separate virtual circuit to the next IP Switch and pass the cells of that flow directly onward rather than reconstructing the IP frame and involving the IP router. This significantly speeds up traffic flow for these high volume applications and reduces the burden on the IP router. Alan -- Alan Schaevitz There are three types of people in the world.
