tale of woe with Madge

Recently, I had decided that we would go with the Madge PCI/155 adapter
as the standard ATM NIC for our high-end servers running NT, Netware,
and OS/2. We had tested it, and it seems to work very well, and the
installation was easy enough. So, three weeks ago I order three more of
these adapters, and am originally told it will be a couple of weeks
before they arrive; they are made in Israel, and there's a bit of a
backlog. Anyway, the story has now changed; there is a several week
delay on al Madge adapters due to 'production problems'. My vendor was
not able to elaborate on what that really means, but to my vendor's
credit, they went all out in contacting other vendors and whatnot to try
to find some of them for me, but they were not successful.

So, my dilemna is whether I should re-evaluate my decision to go with
Madge. One reason I chose them was their reputation, along with the
fact that only Madge and Adaptec are the two Microsoft-supported ATM
vendors, but I'll be danged if I'm going to continue to use a adapter if
it always takes several weeks to get the product. Can anyone out there
give me any info. either way to sway my decision? I'd appreciate
hearing from anyone who uses either the Madge or Adaptec adapters.
Please, no sales pitches from or for other vendors, I only want to hear
from end-users of Madge or Adaptec. Please email me directly, thanks.
