The hardware routing tables (i.e the mapping of the incoming VPI /VCI to the
outgoin' VPI/VCI) are changed on the receipt of a SETUP / CONNECT message.
The programming is done. The entries in the table are deleted when a
RELEASE/ RELEASE COMPLETE message is received.

PVC are altogether of a different kind. They have nothing to do with P-NNI
protocol as such. Usually PVC's are setup using the Network Manager (SNMP)
or configured when the system comes up. These are active until deleted by
another SNMP request. SoftPVC is another kind of connection setup, these
are also configured using Net Management and PNNI facilitates establishment
of SoftPVC.

Further, PNNI in turn the information regarding the different nodes in
topology ( the PTSE database), which it uses to route an incoming call setup
from the user source. This database is periodically updated to accomodate
the changes in the network traffic / parameters.

Hope this helps.
