Some diff between FR & ATM: 1 FR PDU size: variable; ATM PDU size is fixed. 2 FR is mainly WAN based 3 Read any tech book for their header difference. 4 FR uses FCS which only performs error detection rather than correction; ATM uses HEC. They're in fact more alike than different, like VC id, congestion management, etc Fixed cells require less buffering and faster processing and less latency, which makes ATM better for delay sensitive data.
