The ATM Forum has decided to cede to the ITU on the AAL-2 spec. In other words, what was know as ATM Forum VTOA will be a reference to the ITU-T's I.363.2 recommendation. As far as other manufacturers of AAL-2 gear: Maker Systems is the only supplier shipping an AAL-2 chip today. If an ATM manufacturer isn't using Maker's chip, they aren't shipping an AAL-2 product. Visit GDC's web site at http://www.gdc.com and click on the front page link "Apex Voice Service Module" The AAL-1 vs. AAL-2 tutorial and the Management Briefing on AAL-2 are great overviews of the spec, and try not to be "too" GDC specific. ================================================================== Jon Gauthier Principal Network Engineer General DataComm, Inc. jon.gauthier@NOSPAM.gdc.com Visit http://www.voiceofatm.com for the scoop on the right way to do Voice over ATM... Any opinions expressed are my own - GDC wouldn't have otherwise... Remove the NOSPAM to e-mail me - it may be a futile attempt on my part, but it makes me feel better... ================================================================== Alan Y.
