MPOA vs. TAG switching

Learning about both of these, MPOA recently, and am wondering if they're
solving the same problem...it seems MPOA (is it defined only for IP or
is that vendor-specific ?) is designed to bypass the router when
conditions merit depending on flow sending traffic across ELANs/subnets
from switch to switch, and TAG switching is supposed to add a header (?)
which will allow the routers/switches ? to more easily identify a path
for that packet...still learning as u can see :+)
