SONET/SDH self-healing ring configuration

Folks,

I learnt from a paper that there are three kind of self-healing ring of
SONET/SDH implementation, namely, bidirectional data tranmission using 4
fibre cables (BSHR/4), bidirectional data transmission using 2 fibre
cables (BSHR/2), and unidirectional data transmission using 2 fibre
(USHR/2).

Have anyone has an experience of about implementations? I have used the
BSHR/2 for path protection. However, it needed to reserve 50% working
traffic for the protection. What a waste it is!

Please feel free to email me to share your SHR implementation
experience.

Thanks.
