Hello all,

I would like to know any of your comments, corrections, on the below dilemma..

Lets say, we have a link of fixed size transmission capacity.

"An ATM multiplexer will take all the input flows produced by the sources
(say video sources) and transmit up to the maximum number of cells that it is
capable of transmitting in the given interval. It does not matter whether any
dynamic allocation (i.e. reserving bandwidth by some algorithm) is done for each
of the flows".

1. Do we need any cell scheduling mechanism above?
2. Various dynamic bandwidth allocation schemes exist in literature. What happens
if the allocation for a session is off the mark?

Any pointers would be appreciated..

Regards
kk
