Documents to refer -I.321 : B-ISDN PRM
I.363 : B-ISDN AAL FUNC DES.
I.363 : B-ISDN AAL SPEC

So, far as the difference between AAL1 and AAL2 is concerned - the above
docs will be of help.
In few words - AAL 1 would implement voice over ATM in the form of
circuit emulation (CBR). On the other hand AAL2 uses (VBR) - so you may
use compression techniques and exploit periods of silence (leading to
effective use of BW).
