1)  Nothing would stop a LEC from being on the same switch that supplies
ATM services such as LECS or LES/BUS.  Any ATM switch that has Gig Eth /
Eth blades, etc. is going to treat that blade as a LEC or multiple LECs
more than likely.

2)  I think the better switch vendors give you the ability to provide
LES/BUS/LECS services on any switch you want...spliting them if you want
and also providing you with some sort of redundancy wrt LES/BUS/LECS.
Since ATM switches are being used not only for core switching with OC-12s
and OC-3s but also for the edge to supply high density ethernet, etc...the
vendors are supplying code to run services on all thier switches.
