LANE v2 spec

Hi,
1)Quoting LANE v2 spec:
"Communication between emulated LANs require some type of
interconnection devices(bridge,router,etc),even though direct ATM
connections between emulated LANs are explicitly allowed in some
circumstances."
The spec goes on to state that such inter-ELAN connections are outside
its scope.
This (quote) surprises me as (as far as I know) an emulated LAN is a
Virtual LAN which could be connected to another ELAN by a router(or a
Layer 3 Switch or a gateway) only, and not through a bridge or even
directly.

2)Quoting the same spec again :
"It is possible with sufficent configuration parameters to emulate SVC
functionality using PVCs and thus operate LANE over PVCs.However support
for PVCs is beyond the scope of LANE v2 specification."
What are these parameters and presently is it possible to support PVCs
over LANE?

Thanks for taking time off to answer them,
