OK, I accept the fact that people will argue about this. I have worked with the existing PSTN/ISDN of synchronous circuits controlled by common channel signaling for sixteen years and I say the track records indicate just the opposite of what you claim: the sync network will maintain service longer than async nets, is better suited for storms of service requests and ALWAYS "sounds" good to facilitate human conversation, not to mention analog modems trying to disguise low bandwidth data ... >It cuts both ways.
