OC3 - OC12

Currently we have a OC3 ATM stack, driver, ATM NIC.
If I need to migrate to OC12, what are all the things
I should change ? 
Is that only a change in the driver and the adapter card, required ?
Or what part of the ATM stack has to be changed ?

>From what I came to know, OC3 and OC12 make a difference in
the physical medium only, Is that correct ?
