I have tried different baud rates, so I am pretty sure the serial port
is broken.

Thanks for revealing what an RSCP is, but it won't let me change it to
bridging mode (there is no option for it)  The guy I bought it from
said there were a lot of problems with firmware.  Is there anywhere I
could get an updated firmware?  Alcatel's web page is worthless, I
can't log in to the VIVID section, and the support section doesn't
list the orange ridge.
