It's not a "book" in the usual sense, but the ATM Forum document on UNI 4.0 signalling is readily available for download at ftp://ftp.atmforum.com/pub/approved-specs/af-sig-0061.000.pdf I suspect that Appendix E "Known Differences with UNI 3.1" might be of particular interest, based on comments in your origianl message. A definitive *book* is the "ATM User-Network Interface Specification V3.1" which is not freely downloadable but is available for purchase through ordinary book retail outlets or perhaps a nearby library with a decent selection of technical books related to telecomm might have it / be able to get it for you. Via amazon.com, the URL for reference is --- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/013393828X/qid=1001529021/sr=1-1/ref= sr_1_4_1/102-0806070-3149757 Final comment is that equipment manufacturers certainly have been known to differ on occasion in their implementations of QoS, BCOB, ATC, etc. info element coding [between vendors as well as between particular units and even software releases within a product line] and how their boxes tend to generate and/or respond to various combinations of IE choices during SVC signaling. So your observation is not too surprising..... I suppose you can pick what you want for a homogeneous network composed of only "your" product but in reality I imagine interoperability is at least somewhat important (it sure is to customers these days :-) --- in that case, there is really no substitute for lab testing the various units with which you're going to interwork and have a good ATM test set (generator/analyzer) at the ready. Hope these remarks are helpful.... ======== "Bryan Schwerer" <bschwerer@cylink.com> wrote in message 3bb1c917.166538499@news.randori.com">news:3bb1c917.166538499@news.randori.com... > I've been assigned to take over the signalling statck of our ATM > product.
