Settle an argument: Are voice packets ever retransmitted?

Can anybody settle this in-office argument for us?

Are real time voice packets ever retransmitted if they are
corrupted, or are they just dropped?
Where can I find a source that says Yes or No explicitly?
I can't find anything on the web.

Asking another way, are voice packets over AAL2 ever
retransmitted? How about for IP? Other packet technologies?
