Whilst I won't have time to propose anything for a few days, I'll take this opportunity to concur with Curtis and request that we get some clarity and boundaries back into this discussion. The 'diskless boot' scenario is a different question to what was originally asked. Let's look for a solution that can be used in WAN _and_ LAN environments. This does not equate to 'must be infinitely scalable', so let's also be happy with solutions that work in WANs with certain restrictions on the size of LIS memberships. Tim raised the possibility of my IPmc draft being extended slightly to have the ARP Server explicitly resolve the IP LIS broadcast address to be all hosts registered with the ARP Server for that LIS. Any other ideas? Any problems with this? gja |
