I'm having trouble visualising the scenario you're describing.

If you actually mean to use the plural 'stations' to imply
the existence of 4 distinct nodes, then I don't understand it at all.

Do you mean there may be two physical IP hosts, each a member of 2 LISs
("red" and "blue") ? And you are postulating the case where
the "red" side of host 1 is sending to the "red" address of host 2,
and the "blue" side of host1 is conversing with the "blue" side
of host 2?
