What size is a LIS?

In off-list email, at least one person has noticed that my vocal support
for MCS as a required possibility for multicast support (not in
opposition to also allowing full mesh where desired) had not been as
apparent recently on the list. Almost always, any technical point I
would make has been made by others before me. But perhaps it is time to
say that as a user shop with hundreds of large IP LIS in terms of number
of hosts for what our Information Technology people assure me are good
reasons, I still fully support that any LIS solution must scale to > 100
hosts, although I'd be willing to limit to < 1000. And my technical
opinion is that MCS is better than full mesh at meeting our company's
needs.

I know that that is just one user company's data point. But
organizations built on consensus need to hear from users on both sides
of this discussion.
