Are you talking about a specific vendors ATM Switch? If so in most cases that I am aware of, many ATM switches need, not only a SW upgrade but also IP/MPLS capable HW. You will have to check with your vendors model switch to see what capabilities it has. It can be dependent on the chipsets they use.
