----- Yes, it is required to maintain the adjacencies, Without which the
session would come down.

 ----- Yes, the termination should be terminated because the next hop is not
reachable. Consider the following example.
                LSR1 -- LSR2 -- LSR3.
                    |------------------|

 Suppose that initially all the LSR's are adjacent to each other in a delta
topology. Suppose the link between LSR1 and LSR3 goes down. The TCP session
would re-establish itself via LSR2. But that is not the required case, we
need to have link state adjacencies in this case, which can be achieved only
through the hello hold timer. Hope i am clear...
