Not sure where Cisco is headed wrt L2VPN....

Transporting layer 2 over MPLS is simple(the martini draft has most of the
dtailes ironed out), but the VPN related mechanisms like membership,
reachability are difficult and layer 3 VPN implementations have it
currently, not layer 2..
