Are you using the VRF aware ping from the P or PE routers?

Subject: [MPLS-OPS]: vrf forwarding

Hi,

I have 3662 as PE (PE1) with 12.2.8T ios. It has a serial connectivity to CE (CE1). The connectivity diag is as below

CE1 -------PE1 ------P1----|----P2----PE2---CE2
        Serial      (3662)

Now on enabling "ip vrf forwarding" in serial int of PE1 ,
 - I was not able to ping from PE1 to CE1 .
 - But it was happening viceversa. The serial connectivity was up and running.
 - Also i was not able to ping the PE1-CE1 serial IPs from PE2.

On disabling "ip vrf forwarding" from the interface on PE1 ,
 - I was able to ping CE1 from PE1
 - and also able to ping from PE2&CE2.
 - But in this case from PE1 i wasnt able to ping PE2&CE2.

Could anyone let me know whether you have faced similar issue with vrf . Could this be ios related. Or will it be some other factor. Hope i was clear in my query. Do get back incase you require more details.
