  Federico, with all respect I would still say an MPLS network can be set 
up without a P router, using only 2 PE routers back to back.  Granted, you 
will not get a good look at all the proper LDP labeling because each PE is 
the ultimate, not penultimate router. However, from a VPN point of view, 
all BGP sessions work, VPN labels are exchanged etc, IGP routing happens, etc

I guess it depends on what you are trying to do, trying to see.
