Hi,

As I am a foreigner to MPLS and I am too rush to study and master it in short time, once again, I need your expertise and advice to help me.

>From your kind information, I understand my Cisco routers need at least IOS 12.1 to support MPLS. But I have a few more questions:

1) Is the IOS version backward compatible? That is to say, example, IOS 13.1 supports all the features in IOS 12.1 ?

2) Can newer IOS be downloaded from internet? Let's say the my router now has IOS 12.1 and I want to upgrade it to IOS 13.1. What should I do?

3) What is "lineSet"? How does it relate to router and MPLS?

I am sorry if my questions reveal my poor understanding about this area. But please give me your advice to pull me through. I am dying....

Thank you very much
