any idea how L2VPNs are at handling "jitter" latency if constant is not a problem... jitter is a big problem though... -rgds Alok ----- Original Message ----- From: fraanro <fraanro@arrakis.es> To: Emilie Hien <ehien@siticom.com> Cc: <mpls-ops@mplsrc.com> Sent: Thursday, September 12, 2002 8:20 PM Subject: Re: RE: [MPLS-OPS]: Voice over MPLS Do you mean Voice over IP over MPLS, or any Voice over MPLS direct implementation. About the second I do not know about any. About the first, the performance should be the same as voice over IP in general, because MPLS does not necessarily mean an improvement in performance vs. IP routing, but depending on the specific hardware, it might. Among other things, MPLS may give you a better control over the path that the voice over IP traffic follows, ensuring for example that it goes always through low delay links, etc. On the other hand if you implement things like Path protection or Fast Reroute, the impact on the voice conversations of a link or node failure will be minimal, whereas without MPLS and these features will take longer to recover the service. Hope this helps Javier. ----- Mensaje Original ----- Remitente: Emilie Hien <ehien@siticom.com> Fecha: Jueves, Septiembre 12, 2002 10:46 am Asunto: RE: [MPLS-OPS]: Voice over MPLS > Hi, > Do you know if anybody has already tried to implement voice over > MPLS and > the resulting performance? > Thank you in advance > Emilie > ------- The MPLS-OPS Mailing List Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.mplsrc.com/mplsops.shtml Archive: http://www.mplsrc.com/mpls-ops_archive.shtml ------- The MPLS-OPS Mailing List Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.mplsrc.com/mplsops.shtml Archive: http://www.mplsrc.com/mpls-ops_archive.shtml
