Robert Actually this "Box" is what many customers are asking for . An VPNv4 RR route server which could scale to couple of hundred of BGP session and million of VPNV4 prefix . using a router (built as forwarding optimized hardware and O.S )as RR seems not scaling well (Ajay stated 7200/7300,which by experience showed limitation ), i guess that it will be good move if cisco port the RR software to W.S . What are the constraints which prevent cisco to release an RR based on W.S ? N.B : The same point raised by AT&T ( Presentation by Luyuan Fang - Principal Technical Staff Member, IP NetworkArchitecture, AT&T - during MPLS world Congress 2003) Quote VPN RR is out of data path - no packet forwarding is required Design: Route server may be more suitable than a router Unquote Brgds >From: Robert Raszuk <raszuk@cisco.com> >Reply-To: raszuk@cisco.com >To: Colin Simpson <csimpson@nexagent.com> >CC: mpls-ops@mplsrc.com >Subject: Re: [MPLS-OPS]: 2547 Route-server >Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 16:34:06 +0100 > > >None in a real meaning of "route-server".
