As far as I know, the maximum number of entries within a cisco box is
limited by (a) the amount of installed memory, (b) the scalability of the
routing protocol in terms of its memory/CPU utilizations, and (c) the usage
(or non-usage) of VRFs since each routing table consumes an additional chunk
of memory independent of the number of entries it contains. As far as the 1
Million IP entries are concerned, it could be the theoretical maximum
supported by the IOS but practical considerations might impact the actual
number of supported entries.

Hi,

cisco documented that its routers are capable of having up to 1 million IP
entries in their forwarding tables. Is this feature available to all its
products?
