I am doing this with 3550's..    Use VLAN interfaces, and 802.1q trunks
to customer.. Though its not really 'mini-PE', as it doe'snt do any tag
switching at all..

It depends on what kind of interface the PE-VCE link is. You may be able
to
use l2 encaps to delineate the l3, ie 802.1q, FR-DLCI, ATM-PVCs etc.
