Hi,

In short, today you can configure an inter-area TE LSP by specifying a set of loose hops (ABRs) and the path with each area will be automatically computed by each node whose next hop is signalled as a loose hop. In an IOS release coming soon, we will add:
- the ability to discover a more optimal in the non-head end are and perform an end to end reoptimization if required/desired (see draft-vasseur-ccamp-loose-path-reopt)
- the support of FRR for the ABR (implementation of the node-id sub-object)

- ....
More sophisticated method to compute optimal end to end path across areas are currently being worked on.

I believe it is possible now with a few limitations, and frankly speaking except for a couple of caveats (stated below) there's not much to it in terms of configurations,
* You need to define an explicit-route for your LSP which traverses multiple OSPF areas,
* Autoroute and Forwarding Adjacency feature in some IOS versions is still a question mark to my knowledge
* Hops outside the area where LSP originates need to be defined as 'Loose'
* Tunnel re-optimization and Affinity Info is another unknown to me across areas
* FRR Node protection also has some limitations which to my knowledge are being worked on.

HI Karthik,
It is possible. I guess Cisco is working on it. But I'm not sure how?

Dear All

Is it possible to make  inter area MPLS TE  tunnels in a multi area OSPF network. If yes what need additional need to be done.
