Ross,
  I agree with your desire to stick with the known is more comforting 
than being on the edge with new technology in critical situations, 
however, many of the changes in auto technology such as ABS, active 
suspension, electronic fuel injection, etc. are put into place without 
the consumer knowing what changes are really going on under the hood.

You may very well be driving a '65 'Stang that you know backwards and 
forwards, but it's possible that when you go for a ride in your mother in 
law's Infiniti Q45 with ABS, EFI, and active suspension, your life is 
riding on that technology you thought was "brand new technology" and 
possibly untested...
