NHRP Project - Conference Style Paper

  • From: "M.J. Robinson" <92mjr1@eng.cam.ac.uk>
  • Date: Wed, 29 May 1996 17:26:28 +0100 (BST)

Hi Folks,
Following my email of Friday 24th May, I've completed the
Conference Style Paper (Abstract included below). This can also be
downloaded from:

	http://www2.eng.cam.ac.uk/~92mjr1/mainreport.html

Both Postscript and Word 6 (for PC) versions of the report are
available to download. If you intend to use the Word version, please
ensure that your browser is set up to deal with ".doc" files correctly.
Also, if you're able to download between 6pm (BST) and 9am (BST)
(i.e. late morning onwards in the USA) this would be much appreciated.

	Hope you find this useful,

		Matthew.

Abstract
========
The Next Hop Resolution Protocol (NHRP) has been proposed as a
means of utilising the subnetwork layer provided by new WAN technologies
better than internetwork layer routing alone. Router to Router NHRP
requires a mechanism to detect shortcuts which are no longer valid.
Mechanisms for achieving this are proposed and analysed in this paper. One
important trade-off is between the amount of network traffic generated and
the amount of state which must be stored by intermediate routers.
