ATM research help

Hi, There:

I am a stunent in the Electrical/Computer Engineering Dept. of SUNY-B, I
am going to a research on the ATM network/or switch, I am looking for a
research topic on this field (going to my PHD degree). Because there is
lack of good knowledgale person on ATM here, I need your advice about
it. 

I have read several books and papers about ATM(Networ/switch) B-ISDN,
SONET, etc, and bulit a background in this field. Now I need a topic for
the futher step of my research. I am really interested this field.

Your any kind of help is very useful and is really appreciated.
