API for fore/solaris

I was just musing about how it would be nice to be able
to collect some frame size distributions on a couple
Cascade 9000 ATM trunks. These trunks apparently use
AAL5 between the two cascades. My thought was to use
a Fore ASX-200 with a couple DS-3 interfaces to bridge
onto the transmit and receive of the trunk, and then
configure the ASX-200 to switch all cells over to a
couple of OC-3 interfaces which connect to two OC-3
SBUS cards from Fore in a SUN Sparc.

I'd want the Sparc to be able to collect AAL5 frame size and
circuit utilization information via software written to
one of their APIs...

Yes, this is something an HP 75000 analyzer could do,
but if we put it on the Sparc, it could archive the data
into a relational database and create dynamic graphs via
web access, etc.

Anyone done something similar?
Regards,
chris
