Re: tag switching: is it marketing or something new?

i thought that this topic was appropriately discussed in the cell-relay
newsgroup for the following reasons [which is not to say that it couldn't
be discussed on the ietf mailing list as well]:

	1. similarities between tag switching and i-pnni which is a
	   very atm-focused protocol.

	2. comparisons made in papers (such as the cisco white paper
entitled "scaling the internet with tag switching") between
tag switching and ip switching (which was advanced by ipsillon
networks as an alternative to lane and mpoa).

	3. papers written such as the internet draft entitled "use of
tag switching with atm" which clearly position tag switching
	   as an atm routing protocol.
