The Texty Award, given by the Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA), was presented during the June 19th awards banquet at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. The award is judged by a panel of author peers. "Competition was stiff this year, and texts were all of excellent quality and presentation," explained Natalie Gillespie, Director of Member Services, TAA. "Textys are awards to be proud of." The TAA Council first established the Texty awards in June 1993. "TAA is very pleased to make this award as a way of recognizing outstanding texts that make a significant contribution in their field," said Ronald E. Pynn, President, Text and Academic Authors Association. Williams Stallings received his first Texty Award for the 1996 text, 'Computer Organization and Architecture, 4th Edition.'
