Internetworking with TCP/IP Volume 1 (third revision) ISBN 0-13-474321-0 by D. Comer. This is an excellent book about the TCP/IP protocol suite and internetwork design principles. This also handles RFC 1577 Classical IP over ATM. 2. ATM and Multiprotocol Networking ISBN 0-07-057724-2 by G. Sackett and C. Metz. I haven't read this one but it is the only book I know of that handles IP over ATM in any detail. As was mentioned in other replies, there are various open and proprietary standards on the market for IP over ATM. A partial list follows: Open Standards RFC 1483 Multiprotocol Encapsulation over ATM Layer 5 RFC 1577 CLIP IETF NHRP (Draft document) ATM Forum LANE version 1.0 and 2.0 ATM Forum MPOA version 1.0 IETF MPLS (draft documents) Proprietary Standards Ipsilon IP Switching Cascade IP Navigator IBM ARIS IBM MSS (based on LANE and NHRP) Cisco Tag Switching Toshiba Cell Switch Routing Siemens/Newbridge CSI (Based on MPOA) -- Peter > -- > Sharif M.
