Hello Ashish,
Thanks for your paper on some of the
issues/trends in narrowband/broadband interworking. I
was mostly interested in the issues regarding
ISUP-BISUP interworking and ISUP-PNNI interworking.
But according to Patrick Hurley's reply ( thanks to
you Patrick !), both options are not feasible in
today's scenario. What we require is basically
ISUP-Q2931(UNI) interworking ( since most carriers
allow only UNI signalling ). Do you feel this is
technically feasible ? Though both are ITU standards,
I haven't seen any interworking specs relating the
two. Trillium's planned interworking products feature
ISUP-PNNI interworking; but there seem to be no plans
for ISUP-Q2931(UNI).
There is yet another possibility - interworking
between CAS ( for DS1/DS3 links ) and Q2931(UNI). ARe
there any specs on this issue ? Is Trillium or any
other company thinking of providing such a solution ?
Thanks and warm regards,
Debayan Chaudhuri.
