If your 10MBit link is full duplex you will see traffic throughput at
a rate > than 10 megabits, but somewhat less than 20 megabits.  Since
most cards and switches these days are autosense, if your connection
is right to the switch then this indeed would be the case.

I've personally seen throughput on 10MBit full-duplex links approach
19Mbits/sec (18.666, to be exact).
