As far as LANE is concerned the LEC must not send any frame that is
larger then it's
Maximum frame size parameter (C3 - Max Data frame size ) on any non
multiplexed VCC or
C3 value plus 12 octes (mux header of 12 octets ) on any LLC multiplexed
Data Direct VCC .
This parameter C3 is set during initialization phase of LEC . It must be
either 1516 , 1580,4544,9234 or 18190 octets or UN SPECIFIED . If it's
un-specified it will be set during
a succesful join phase of LEC to a perticular ELAN .
This clearly indicates that there is no negotiation for Max frame size
/MTU in LANE.
For more info refer to ATM forum LUNI v2 spec ,af-lane-0084.000 section
8.
I hope this helps.

PS: These are my personal views and NOT of my employer .
Do the clients on the same ELAN or LIS negotiate their MTU for data
transfers? Or, is the MTU on all the clients fixed on client startup?
