How you use AAL2 is not the only problem. You also need to deal with the
signalling. The ATM Forum's voice over ATM (VTOA) spec., AF-VTOA-0089,
will give you some guidance, but it is only a specification of general
principles, and not a complete specification. In any case, it only
relates to AAL1.

Some of the issues not covered by the ATM Forum's specification concern
how you:

- route based on the information contained in the legacy protocol

- handle supplementary services

- co-ordinate demands for SVC capacity from the ATM network.

We believe we have solved these problems by defining an implementable
solution based on the use of QSIG / PSS1 as the common means of
conveying legacy voice protocols. This enables the full range of legacy
voice equipment (PABXs in particular) to be interconnected via ATM
infracstructures, thus preserving the considerable investments already
made in existing corporate voice networks whilst at the same time
leveraging the ATM backbone typically being installed for data
applications.
