How you use AAL2 is not the only problem. You also need to deal with the signalling. The ATM Forum's voice over ATM (VTOA) spec., AF-VTOA-0089, will give you some guidance, but it is only a specification of general principles, and not a complete specification. In any case, it only relates to AAL1. Some of the issues not covered by the ATM Forum's specification concern how you: - route based on the information contained in the legacy protocol - handle supplementary services - co-ordinate demands for SVC capacity from the ATM network. We believe we have solved these problems by defining an implementable solution based on the use of QSIG / PSS1 as the common means of conveying legacy voice protocols. This enables the full range of legacy voice equipment (PABXs in particular) to be interconnected via ATM infracstructures, thus preserving the considerable investments already made in existing corporate voice networks whilst at the same time leveraging the ATM backbone typically being installed for data applications.
