ATM help

I'm new to the ATM world and was wondering if some of you out there could
assist me with a couple questions.

I've noticed carriers often sell in bandwidth of say DS1, DS3, OC-3, etc,
and that part I understand fine. But also they'll sell and charge for
variables such as:
CBR (constand bit rate), VBRrt (variable bit rate real time),
VBRnrt(non-real), ABR (available bit rate), and UBR (unspecified bit
rate).

My question is what most peoples "gut feeling" is to go with for all of
these parameters for say a port speed of a DS1 or a DS3. With frame relay
usually the CIR people pick is very low, maybe 8K for each 64K or
thereabouts. Is it the same for the CBR rate?? Are the others parameters
such as vbr, abr, and ubr even used at all?

Thanks!
Steve
