ATM Today?

Hi all,

While I have been involved with ATM at a high level for some time, I now
find myself moving closer, so I have joined the list, and appreciate the
opportunity to share in your collective wisdom.

Does modern ATM equipment widely support the various standard bodies (ATM
Forum, ANSI, ITU-T) recommendations or do they select one over the other?
If so, which is most prevalent?

Specifically, do vendors support both Generic Flow Control (GFC)
'uncontrolled' mode (ATM Forum) and 'controlled' mode (ITU-T)?

What is the state of industry support for the full range of VPI/VCI
addressing? Do equipment manufacturers still limit the number of VPI/VCI
combination? Does this support vary between vendors?

Thanks and I hope you find these questions on topic.
