The RSVP work is trying to meet the needs of INTSERV via more or less 
traditional IP mechanisms (emulate circuit switching within an IP 
datagram paradigm). It is perfectly fair and aboveboard for ION to think 
up schemes that are _not_ traditional IP at the lower two or three ISO 
layers; in particular, to apply ATM capabilities to the problem.

Time will tell which solutions turn out to be most successful, of course. 
IP has done remarkably well so far, no question.
