The only additional reference I have beyond the Xerox PARC blue and white
report is: 

 Proceedings of the Sixth Annual ACM Symposium on Principals of Distributed
 Computing (PODC), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, August 10-12, 1987. 

 "Epidemic Algorithms for Replicated Database Maintenance", Alan Demers,
 et. al. pp 1-12.
