ATM-LSR do they use OSPF/IS-IS or PNNI??

I am not quite convinced by this! I looked at many 
pointers, esp, IETF IPPM working group. Why is delay variation
is not as important as delay in delay sensitive applications?
And more over, how can we get a bounded delay variation
with a bounded delay?

By looking at the:

Still so much research in going on in IP to make IPDV work

Please let me know how did you came to the above conclusion
