saquib,
What you said is Possible:
For Example let's say that we have an Edge (PE) Router
such as CoSine/Redback/Nortel-Shasta/Lucent-Springtide/Cisco etc.
And a CE Router which has a VoIP Gateway (Media gateway) is connected
to it. Then you can Provision MPLS Tunnels on the Edge Router so that
all VoIP connections will go through this Specific Tunnel. Obviously
this Tunnel can be Provisioned with a Large Bandwidth so that it can
handle a large number of simultaneous calls. And to provision such
MPLS Tunnel at the Edge Router one may have to do:
1) Add the IP Address of the VoIP Gateway
2) Add the RTP Port No Range
3) Associate the above with a MPLS tag (External label)
4) Use RSVP Signalling via this Tunnel to get the Internal
label dynamically for every VoIP call
{the above idea siggests Traffic Aggrecation ona Provisioned Tunnel)
So when the Edge Router receives the RTP/UDP/IP pkt he checks the above
and insert the MPLS tag and passes it to the Core Router. This way all
the VoIP calls originating from the VoIP gateway will pass through the
same Tunnel (same MPLS tag). And the drawback may be
1) Two Edge Routers may have to Identified for such a Tunnel
2) All VoIP call will pass thru this Tunnel (Edge-to-Edge)
Please let me know your comments and others too.....
regards,
vola
