Subject: RE: LDP & MPLS
Hello
You are right. LDP protocol runs over TCP. This we call
it as control
portion. This is used for
establishment of the LSP's.
But when datapacket
comes, it is label switched in layer 2. SO the data
forwarding is done in layer 2 so it is a
layer 2 protocol.

Subject: LDP &
MPLS
Hi all,
I was confused about the layer on which LDP
operates.
As we all know MPLS operates between layer 2
and layer
3.
I am asking this because when a LDP session is
established msgs are sent on TCP for reliable
delivery.
So for LDP to run over TCP
it has to be implemented
above that layer , but i am
not sure where.
Any pointers that help me in the implementation
of
LDP are welcome.
Thanks for ur help!.
Sincerely,
Abrar.
