I believe the Riverstone MPLS cards on the RS8600 have dedicated ASICs that run all the MPLS funtions on hardware without affecting CPU performance. Foundry supports MPLS (RSVP/TE, OSPF/TE, martini, and other functions). They have had code out for some time now, and have had public statements about their interoperability with just about everyone under the sun. Riverstone is also supporting MPLS and has participated in some of the MPLS InterOp events. Performance on the Foundry is wirespeed when using the NPA modules, slightly less than wire speed when using thier processor based modules. Riverstone is not wirespeed for any of their interfaces yet, but are working on some products (software and new blades) to make it wire speed.
